Greentree Preparatory Charter School (“Greentree Prep,” “GTP,” “we,” “us”) respects the privacy of our students, families, staff and visitors. This policy explains what information greentreeprep.com collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

Who we are

Greentree Prep is a tuition-free, K–8 public charter school in Southwest Ranches, Florida, sponsored by The School Board of Broward County. This policy applies to our website, greentreeprep.com, and to information you send us through it. It does not replace the school’s policies on student education records, which are described in our Parent/Student Handbook.

Information we collect

Information you give us

• Contact and inquiry forms: your name, email address, phone number and message.
• Open House RSVPs, tours and volunteer sign-ups: your name, contact details and the event or activity you choose.
• Registration and enrollment forms: information about the parent or guardian and the student that is needed to apply, such as names, date of birth, grade, address and contact details. These forms are completed through secure third-party services described below.
• Emails and phone calls: anything you choose to share when you contact our front office.

Information collected automatically

• Usage and device information: like most websites, our hosting and security systems record basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you visit and the date and time of your visit. We use this to keep the site secure and working well.
• Cookies and analytics: we use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how visitors use our site (for example, which pages are most popular). Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies. We do not use this information to identify individual visitors.
• Embedded content: some pages include content from other providers, such as maps, forms and documents. Those providers may collect information about your visit under their own privacy policies.

How we use information

• To respond to questions and requests from families and visitors.
• To process enrollment applications, Open House RSVPs, tours and volunteer sign-ups.
• To share school news, events and important updates with families.
• To operate, secure and improve our website.
• To meet our legal, reporting and record-keeping obligations as a Florida public school.

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.

Children’s privacy

Our website is intended for parents, guardians and the community. We do not knowingly collect personal information online directly from children under 13. Student information submitted through the site, such as enrollment information, is provided by a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through the website, please contact us and we will delete it.

Student education records

Student education records are protected by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and section 1002.22, Florida Statutes. Parents and eligible students have the right to inspect and review education records, to request corrections, to consent to most disclosures, and to file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education. How we share information

We share information only as needed to run the school and this website:

• Service providers that host our website or provide tools we use, under their own privacy and security terms.
• The School Board of Broward County and the Florida Department of Education, when required for enrollment, reporting or other legal obligations of a public charter school.
• Legal and safety reasons, when required by law, court order or public records law, or to protect the safety of students, staff and visitors.

We also link to other websites, such as Broward County Public Schools, FortifyFL and the Florida Department of Education. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of websites we link to.

Cookies and your choices

You can set your browser to refuse or delete cookies; some parts of the site may not work as expected if you do. You can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Public records notice

Greentree Prep is a public charter school and is subject to Florida’s public records law (Chapter 119, Florida Statutes). Information you send us may be a public record unless it is exempt or confidential under law, such as student education records.

Under Florida law, e-mail addresses are public records. If you do not want your e-mail address released in response to a public records request, do not send electronic mail to this entity. Instead, contact this office by phone or in writing.

How we protect information

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections to our website. No website or online service is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

How long we keep information

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, and in accordance with Florida’s public records retention schedules for public schools.

Your choices

You may contact us to ask what information we have about you, to update or correct it, or to stop receiving school communications. Requests about student education records will be handled under FERPA and Florida law.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date above.
